Lake Owen Association

The mission of the Lake Owen Association, which was founded in 2002, is to Preserve and Protect Lake Owen.  Our work supports a vision for Lake Owen as a pristine refuge sustained by an engaged community.  We focus on preventing aquatic invasive species, preserving water quality, and protecting and restoring habitat.  To do this we monitor lake-related public policy and regulations and inform stakeholders, inspire active stakeholder involvement, retain best in class lake management and establish sustainable financial resources.

Preserve and Protect Your Treasured Lake Owen

Lake Owen has been described by the Wisconsin DNR as “Wisconsin’s Healthiest Lake.” In 2023, the DNR rating of Lake Owen’s fish and aquatic life was “excellent.” You can help keep it that way by making a donation or pledge today!

The biggest expense in keeping Lake Owen as Wisconsin’s Healthiest Lake is preventing invasive species. Invasive plants and animals cause damage to natural systems by displacing native species. To name just a few immediate and nearby threats: Zebra Mussels are found in Lake Superior and Big McKenzie Lake in Washburn County, and Eurasian Water Milfoil is present in Lake Namakagon, Lake Hayward, and Big Round Lake.

We need YOU to help the Lake Owen Association keep Lake Owen the “Healthiest Lake” by making a tax deductible 501(c)(3) donation or pledge to the Lake Owen Association Preservation and Protection Endowment Fund.
